Omai in London - December, 1775

from Journal of Frances Burney, 14 December 1775, page 65:

To our great surprise, who, late in the Evening, should Enter, but Omiah!... We asked if he had been to the Opera? He immediately began a squeak, by way of imitation, which was very ridiculous; however, he told us he thought the music was very fine; which, when he first heard it, he thought detestable.
