Du Pré, Piers, 1948- in London - early January, 1955

from A genius in the family / Hilary Du Pré, page 67:

Hilary only had one rehearsal on the day of the recording, and she was the last to play. As the others finished, they all looked so miserable that Mum began encouraging Hilary to be cheerful and enjoy it. Hil was unaware that the programme was going out live and played her pieces brilliantly: Humoresque by Bantock and Solfeggietto by Bach .
