Last night, as a farewell gesture, Nora took me to the Olympia to hear (see) young Johnny Halliday, and for the first time in years I experienced enthusiasm. Ironic, that my first exposure to rock 'n' roll should be filtered through a Frenchman on the eve of a departure for an America whose contemporaneity has evaded me.
