Richard Temple Savage in Royal Opera House - in the middle of the 1950's

from A voice from the Pit: Reminiscences of an Orchestral Musician, page 154:

The 1956-57 season was more exciting with Janáček's "Jenufa" and Berlioz' "The Trojans" both for the first time at Covent Garden. The cast for "Jenufa" was superb, including Amy Shuard and John Lanigan, and with Czech music Kubelik was once more in his element.
