Benjamin Britten in Lowestoft - 23 April, 1933

from Journeying boy : the diaries of the young Benjamin Britten 1928-1938, page 138:

Listen to Webern conducting Mahlers' lovely 4th Symphony from London Regional. This work seems a mix up of everything that one has ever heard, but it is definitely Mahler. Like a lovely spring day. The orch. seemed to have caught the spirit but not over many notes of it!
