Ned Rorem in Curtis Institute of Music - 22 November, 1983

from The Nantucket Diary of Ned Rorem 1973-1985, page 434:

Last night at Curtis: Daron's new violin concerto, caringly bowed by his girlfriend Michaela Putsch; his ambitious cycle, with orchestra, based on ten poems of Anne Sexton, caringly sung by his girlfriend Karen Noteboom; and his affecting memorial symphony, based in part on Norman Stumpf's song The Waking. Poor Norman's parents were present, amiable but lost, like Bill Flanagan's parents at his memorial long ago. They wondered what to do with Norman's manuscripts, which might one day be worth something.
