Of the three futile days in Chicago as guest of the William Ferris Chorale, over and above their flattering produced concert of my music (including Letters from Paris), the as-always animated interview with Studs Terkel, the aching excursions back to U-High, the delectable suite at the Drake, the signing at the Unabridged Bookstore, and especially the official denotation by Mayor Washington of March 22 and 23 as "Ned Rorem Days"...
