Michael Kelly in London - the 1800's

from Reminiscences of Michael Kelly, page 212:

I took my departure for London, and played Henry, in "The Deserter." On my first
appearance, I was received, as I thought, with kind and sympathetic applause, by my friends and the audience; but I took a thorough dislike to the stage, and
resolved to quit the profession, so soon as I had made some necessary arrangements to enable me to do so.
