At the conclusion of the singing, Herr Burgermeister Hammers came forward to the front of the stage, and being surrounded by the banner-bearers, each bearing the banner of his respective society, announced to the audience, in clear and distinct tones, amidst the loud cheerings of the assembly, the flourish of trumpets, and the waving of banners, the names of the composers to whom premiums had been awarded by the committee on composition.
