in Royal Festival Hall - the 1950's

from Southbank Centre Archive:

 - of a yong unknown (here) Swedish conductor who, in the second half, conducted a glorious performance of Sibelius' second symphony. Was it Paavo Berglund? Well before his residence at Bournemouth.2. - of the night of the peasouper in the mid fifties, when the air-conditioning in the hall couldn't cope, and a mist formed in the concert hall itself! Going back over Hungerford bridge, walking in the middle, I could not see the railings either side!
