Looking back at what my fellow composers and I have achieved this past year, and summing up my impressions of all I have heard in the concert halls and opera houses, I feel like shouting aloud: what a busy, productive and plentiful year this has turned out to be!/ New symphonies, new operas, new names...1934 has been a year of 'big' works. Large-scale forms have blossomed as never before.
