Georg Henschel in Wrocław - mid 19th Century

from Musings & memories of a musician, page 10:

Light and popular orchestral music was provided by military bands, of which there were three or four in the town. These bands played in almost daily concerts which during the warm season took place in the numerous beer-gardens and milk-gardens situated all along the "Promenaden" shady, beautiful avenues into which the moats of the old fortifications had been converted.
