Sergei Prokofiev in New York City - 21 February, 1926, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 21 February 1926, page 272:

At Samaroff's I heard a new young violinist, Weisbord, a young Russian Jew from the Baltic. He seemed to me an absolutely wonderful violinist. It was a pity that he was accompanied by an appalling papa, somewhat like Elman's, who continually intervenes in conversations and talks up his son at the most inopportune moments.
