Benjamin Britten in Royal Albert Hall - 26 October, 1930

from Diary of Benjamin Britten, Oct 26 1930, page 55:

Go to St. Pauls (?) Paddington to service with Tumtpy Henderson & May Prior. Hear Bishop of Westminster, v. good. Go to Marvellous L.S.O. concert at Albert Hall 3.0-4.50. Mengelberg. Der. Freischütz ov. 3rd Symphony Brahms. Saint-Saëns 3rd [crossed out] 2nd pft. concerto (Anie Dorfman. v. good). Bolero Ravel. The Brahms, was thrilling & so was the Bolero, in which I was nearly hysterical! Orchestra good but not flawless. Mengelberg, superb, magnificent, great.
