Darius Milhaud in Paris - December, 1923

from Selected correspondence 1915-1963 / Francis Poulenc, page 67:

La Brebis caused a great scandal among the season-ticket subscribers during the first act. Police intervened, performance stopped. Wolff yelled at the audience; then, by the end of the second act, we 'had' them. Carré is going to publish the press criticisms of Pelléas. He is very good, but the Isola brothers are terrified.
