On the Sunday at Bâle we all went to church in the beautiful cathedral—the impression perfect, the eye, ear, and mind: the building complete in harmony of proportions and forms, and high finish without exaggeration—the organ fine and a fulness of congregational voice, in the hymn ‘Wie soll ich dich empfangen.’
