Alexander Winkler in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - September, 1908
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 1 October 1908 , page 63:
I am very glad that Deshevov has entered the Conservatoire. The first time he played for Winkler he played études by Rubinstein and Chopin, and Winkler was delighted. 'You have a complete mastery of this piece,' he said of the Rubinstein. 'You should perform it at a student concert, it would be very effective.'
