Yesipova et al. in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 22 September, 1909
from Sergei Prokofiev diaries: 22 September 1909, page 113:
A student hopeful of joining her [Yesipova's] class started to play, quite well but not particularly brilliantly. Yesipova listened, Glazunov beside her. When the student had finished, Yesipova said, 'That was good. But unfortunately I have no room in my class, so I cannot take you ...' All the unfortunate girl could do was get up from her seat and leave the room. After her, Shubert played Beethoven's 'Appassionata'. It was all right, but I would not put it higher than that.
