On the 2th I attended Glagoleva's and Alpers's examination performances. Frieda [Hansen] was not there at the beginning, but a little while later came in and sat near the front. I listened to Verochka's playing. It was all right, quite good, she has made progress, as I told her in a very friendly way. Then I went into the artists' room, where Lyosya was moping about before going on stage to play her number. 'I'm going out to Sestroretsk today for the start of the season,' she said.
