In the afternoon, another rehearsal for the Jubilee Concert. We did not rehearse Ivan The Terrible because I had told Tcherepnin it was in good shape, and in any case other pieces were in much less satisfactory condition and therefore should have the time devoted to them. Zakharov played the Glazunov Concerto well; I would give him a 4 or even a 5. But the concerto is written in such a way that the pianist has very little opportunity to shine in the first movement (the only one the programme had time for).
