In the evening, since she had given me a tickets for it, I went to Zherebtsova-Andreyeva's concert. These are always interesting events because of her intelligence as a performer and the intriguing novelties and beautiful rarities from the past she puts into her programmes. A group of songs by Tcherepnin was very attractive, a tasteless extract from Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos horrible beyond belief, and the latest songs to come from the pen of Tanayev simply not good, the music having no relationship to the words.
