Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 14 January, 20th Century
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 14 January 1913, page 289:
It was good to be made to get up early. At ten o'clock there was a rehearsal in the Small Hall of all the operas, with full chorus, soloists and orchestra. But since the first performance has been put off for a week, the deal of those taking part has lost some of its edge: some of the instrumentalists were missing, only half of the choir was present and not more than a dozen of the soloists. We went through Maccabeus and bits of The Maid of Orleans; it was all right.
