Charlotte Moscheles in London - May, 1836

from Recent Music and Musicians, page 230:

His playing, no less than his demeanor, at his own concert, created a sensation. I shouldn't like to mention Spohr's name in connection with his, nor that of other musicians, his inferiors in execution, for they will permanently be recognized as first-rate artists, when the impetuous Norwegian, pitted against them, is forced to succumb in the art arena.
