When once home we found the warm room and tea most comfortable; then Mendelssohn sang me some of his recently published songs, which I shall bring with me, and said: 'Cecile, you must venture on singing a little Leid to Moscheles, and let him accompany you.' She made the same excuses that certain people always do, and then sang the old German Leid [...] and two others; her voice is small, but her intonation correct.
