I had to tell Felix a great deal about Hiller's new opera 'Conradin, der letzte Hohenstaufe' the favorable reception of which delighted him heartily. David, Benedict, and I had gone over to Dresden to hear it; Wagner and Tichatschek took the leading parts. The performance was a remarkable one, the music, I thought, full of dignity and passion.
