Parallel with the somewhat stuffy atmosphere of the Academy classrooms some exhilarating experiences came my way: hearing some young Béla Bartók’s music played by him together with Hubay; the revelation of the until then unsuspected harmonies and orchestral coloring of Duka’s 'Sorcerer’s Apprentice' as early as 1903, and so on.
