This first winter (1905-1906) in Germany was rich for me in experiences and far-reaching impressions of all kinds; it brought me the outlandish assignment at the Zirkus Albert Schumann Theater, gave me my first debut in a foreign land, and my first Ysaÿe, Kreisler, and Elman concerts, as well as auditions with two great men, Joachim and Busoni.
