The Mourners of Baron von Bunsen in Bonn - 1 December, 1860

from A Memoir of Baron Bunsen Volume II, page 580:

The procession was then formed, the band heading it, and continuing to play on their wind instruments, all the way, a number of German hymn tunes, which, when once heard, can never be forgotten—thus, not only adding to the solemnity of the occasion, but also breaking by the soothing sounds of their music the mournful silence of that funeral cortege, which moved on slowly on foot from the house to the grave.
