What can one say of the undiminished vitality of Casals, this great musician and model for countless younger artists, that would not sound redundant and trite? When I gave a course on Bach during his classes (his theme that summer was Beethoven), and listened with amazement and admiration to his playing, wonderful as ever, and to his zestful comments on the sonatas.
