Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 2 March, 20th Century
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 2 March 1913, page 332:
At two o'clock Max and I attended the exam performances of Barinova's class. The hall was full, because one of the contenders for the grand piano prize, Rabinovich*, was playing. Zakharov and Zeilinger both came to listen, their noses in the air.
Rabinovich's playing was brilliant, but without depth.
