Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 2 May, 1913

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 2 May 1913, page 392:

After the rehearsal* Ossovskaya**, to whose ears vague rumours had already come, asked me to come to her classroom, and I had to tell her the sad news. In this way Max's death became part of conservatoire currency. Then Tcherepnin and I listened to Bai's playing of the Tchaikovsky Concerto and settled various details of the performance. Bai plays extremely well.
