Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 17 May, 1913
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 17 May 1913, page 408:
At home I finished off a page of score and then went to hear the exam performances of Leschetitskaya's students. Natasha Goncharova was in a desperate state of funk and sung appallingly. Tonechka Popova, black-haired and elegant, very well. I sat with Umnenkaya* and her girlfriend Natasha, a flaming redhead. Umnenkaya wanted to know where my perfume came from. 'From her,' I said, indicating the singing Popova. 'Foo, I've gone right off it now!' exclaimed 17A.
