At eight o'clock Nadya Shtember rang up and started jabbering away: 'Kokochka has been saying you've become such a darling person, and if you'll only come over to us this evening you'll be a darling person squared! Please say you'll come!'
I went. Nadya and Sonya have grown into such giantesses that it is positively alarming to look at them, especially after Nina. They are both pretty in a slightly coarse way.
