William Holland in Over Stowey - 16 February, 1806
from Paupers and pig killers / William Holland, page 131:
Home I walked, had a little soup and went to Church at Overstowey, the Church very full with strangers from Ashol, Fiddington, Stowgurcy and Stowey. There was a famous singer in the Gallery, a tennant of the Riches, a very strong bas voice, above all the others and I thought grating on the ears.
