Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 31 October, 1913, in the morning
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 31 October 1913, page 531:
Today in the orchestra class I went painstakingly through the Seventh Symphony, each part in turn, having with Kreisler's help the previous evening marked in the phrasing, especially in the wind instruments to eliminate all the unbearable natural harmonics, and also singling out those places where the theme in the double-basses is hard to hear and needs to be brought out (one of Beethoven's shortcomings).
