Before the rehearsal with Hansen, Tcherepnin played some excerpts from Carmen so deliciously that I was seized with a desire to hear this opera, the more so as many people have said what an excellent production of it is now to be seen at the Music Drama Theatre. But alas, tonight the performance was of Sadko, not Carmen.
