Towards noon I went into the Conservatoire to hear the Lyadov works being rehearsed. Unfortunately I was too late to hear Anna Grigorievna's account of the songs, but I did hear the chorus in an excerpt from The Bride of Messina*. It sounded nice, except that the chorus had forgotten all the phrasing I had tried to teach them
