Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 28 November, 1913
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 28 November 1913, page 552:
The general rehearsal for the Lyadov Jubilee Concert. Although I am not taking part myself I came to the start of the proceedings; first to hear the programme; and second because there is always a lively atmosphere at general rehearsals. Gabel was greeted with a storm of applause as he mounted the platform, and then successfully carved his way through the Polonaise. Anna Grigorievna sang some of his Russian songs, delicately but too piano. On the whole, my attitude to the anniversary celebrations of my former professor-oppressor is one of indifference.
