Soon afterwards the venerable Pope arrived, attended by a gorgeous cortege of Cardinals, Bishops, torchbearers, Swiss Guards, Eoman Senators and Knights of Malta. His advent was greeted by a fine choral rendering of a sprightly antique motivo accompanied by silvern bells, triangles innumerable, all three organs and twelve trumpets.
