in Royal Festival Hall - the 1950's

from Southbank Centre Archive:

As a schoolboy I can remember being taken to the Festival of Britain and gazing in awe at the Skylon, Dome of Discovery etc, but especially the RFH little knowing at the time that within a few years I would be a regular visitor seeing the likes of famed Woody Herman and his great band, misty June Christie and the fine Ted Heath band and the Superb Philharmonia Orchestra.  The memories are endless.
