Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 28 January, 1914
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 28 January 1914, page 592:
We went through Figaro in Tcherepnin's class and then afterwards concentrated on the ensembles, where the opera really gets going. These ensembles are not at all easy for the conductor, since the tempi are quick and almost every bar has a cue for one or other of the singers. I lost the place a few times. Susanna is sung by Timofeyeva and another student, somewhat à la Popova (from the Mariinsky Theatre) but much more interesting, marvellous infact, sheer delight!
