Sergei Prokofiev in Kolonny Zal, Moscow - 16 February, 1914, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 16 February 1914, page 604:
Met Yurasovsky in the artists' room and followed the performance of Glière's symphony from the score he had with him. What ponderous, boring music it is. As the symphony ground on I grew more and more nervous, as my turn was approaching. The symphony finally came to an end, I paced about the artists' room, Yurasovsky took the piano score to follow it during the performance, and Orlov ushered me onto the platform. My appearance was greeted with applause, I bowed and sat down at the piano which was, incidentally, a horrible instrument.
