Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 2 January, 1915, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 2 January 1915, pages 3-4:

Bashkirov came to dine and afterwads we went together to the Conservatoire concert, which because of the war had replaced the traditional General Studies class ball. It is hilarious to see how heartily Bashkirov detests Zakharov. Eleonora feels the same, and neither of them likes his playing at all, although on this occasion my 'Gavotte', which he gave as an encore, was not half bad. Eleonora herself played very nicely and sent Bashkirov into raptures.
