Sergei Prokofiev - 10 December, 1918, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 27 November [10 December] 1918, page 365:
Two more rehearsals today and then the evening concert in Carnegie. The hall was full, which is unusual for an Altschuler concert. The first item on the programme was Rachmaninoff's E minor Symphony, which I heard with great enjoyment. At the end of the performance the composer, trying to hide behind his wife, was identified and made to stand up and acknowledge an ovation.
