Sergei Prokofiev in New York City - 8 February, 1920

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 8 February 1920, page 473:

Arthur Rubinstein, after spending some time in Europe, has returned to America for a concert consisting entirely of new music, including Szymanowski's Second Sonata. There are interesting moments in the Sonata's Variations, but as a whole the words of Rimsky-Korsakov (junior) came irresistibly to mind: 'an adjective, rather than a noun substantive'.
