Sergei Prokofiev in New York City - 18 November, 1920, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 18 November 1920, page 553:

In the afternoon I visited Professor Cheville, who had brought together some of his professorial colleagues with their wives, and I played to them. I think this is the first time in the two years I have been in America that I have been in the society of genuinely cultured people. Then 'dinner with trousers' at the Carpenters, followed by the opera, The Jewels of the Madonna (trash).
