Carl Riedel et al. in Leipzig - 1868

from Musings & memories of a musician, page 24:

During the first reading rehearsal of the Mastersingers, the so - called "Correctur -Probe," i.e. rehearsal for the sake of correcting eventual mistakes in the parts, the whole orchestra from time to time would break into bursts of laughter at the awful dissonances-- times have changed!-- when suddenly Rietz stopped the orchestra, saying, "Gentlemen, this sounds so well-- there must be something wrong in the parts!"
