At eight p.m. in the Kucheryavy automobile we went to the concert. The hall was very fine, but there were not many people, which surprised me as Gottlieb had been telling me they would have to put seats on the stage. I very much enjoyed performing a programme on which I had worked so thoroughly. For the first time I played the Schubert waltzes and also, not counting the charity concert in Kislovodsk before I left Russia, Chopin.
