Sergei Prokofiev in New York City - 23 October, 1921, in the afternoon
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 23 October 1921, page 614:
In the afternoon I went to Damrosch's concert, to which I had been given a ticket by Saminsky, whom I met by chance on the street. I heard an appalling piece by an American composer called Gruenberg, who has just won a prize worth $1,000.
