Sergei Prokofiev in Chicago - 5 November, 1921, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 5 November 1921, page 622:

In the evening I went to the Chicago Symphony to hear Kokhánski, but before that I was bored out of my life by Mahler's Seventh Symphony. Who needs this music? Nevertheless, there are some musicians like Mengelberg who adore it. It is like kissing a still-born child.
